40-60% of the opted in email subscribers say that the emails they receive are not relevant to them. One good example is the airline industry. They know the airports that I fly from. Why do I receive details for offers leaving from airports all over the country? We would prefer to receive email promotions or offers specific to our needs. This also happens in the golf industry. Your conversion rate will decrease if you are offering a youth clinic to customers that do not have children. Worst case, the user will unsubscribe to your database entirely. The more segmented your database, the better rate of return and conversion that equal more sales and content customers.
